You know what I love? Single serving ice creams. They are so good!
We started out buying the Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia & Mint Chocolate Chunk and they are great. As you can see they come with their own little spoon. I've also tried some of the Haagen Daas ones and they are good too.
Then I discovered these Dreyer's Slow Churned - you get a lot more ice cream for less calories - score. Also there are some pretty darned good generic brand ones. My favorite is the mint chocolate chip. I disagree with people who say the green food coloring on mint ice cream is artificial and strange. I think it's fun and it reminds me of when my sister and I used to go get ice cream cones at Thrifty's with my grandma. Mint n'chip was my favorite but I also liked the pina colada and the cherry cordial when they had it. Oh, and rocky road.
These little guys are so great because it's exactly what one serving of ice cream should be. If you buy a big tub of ice cream it's so hard to judge how small a single serving really is. Try scooping this measly amount into your bowl - you feel so cheated. So these single servings are great because they are cute and you can have a variety. And they are always on sale for $1 each so that is just great.
I also must pay homage to the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches:
These are delicious! 140 calories! I love all the flavors: chocolate, vanilla, mint, peanut butter. The peanut butter is especially fun. Skinny Cow also makes a very delicious fudge bar - much better than any other brand.
And no, I would not call my love of ice cream a "craving". I personally do not get this whole pregnancy craving thing - I think it's a lot of baloney. I have cravings all the time even when I am not pregnant! I mean, who doesn't want to eat an ice cream bar or a cookie? And if it's a pregger thing then why is DH always eating the ice cream with me? I think the craving thing might just be an excuse to pig out. But let me tell you - I don't need an excuse! My freaking ankles have morphed into cankles and I can't sleep more than an hour (or two if I'm lucky) without going to the bathroom. I can't drink alcohol and it's getting harder and harder to move about and reach my feet. If I want a darn ice cream I am going to eat it!!!
Anyhoo. I'm off. I've been doing some more interesting breast pump research that I will be posting soon. I know you can't WAIT!!! Until next time.
